1. What brings you joy in life?
For Shashi, life and business are about simple pleasures.Good margaritas. Really good friends. An epic mountain hike when the clouds are just right. Lime popsicles. Her husbands’ belly laugh. Her son's deadpan humour. And a gift that makes a friend gush. It’s that easy. They are simple things that mean everything.
2. What is is your favourite piece of jewelry ?
It’s a silver, jingly anklet that I still have and a bracelet that my husband gave me the day our son was born.
3. Who are some women that inspire you?
I have a few. Amal Clooney (nee Alamuddin) because she embodies grace. Michelle Obama who talks from the heart and is real. And any woman who puts their whole self into being the best that THEY can be, without comparing themselves to someone else.
4. How do you choose gifts?
I am actually one of those people that notes things in my phone when one of my girlfriends remarks about something that she likes ... and then voila instant gift thinking done! Yep, I am a bit A type.
5. What is your style?
I don't think I hit a certain category. I strive for effortless, but don't succeed at it. I'm a little bit boho, with an edge, trying for ongoing class, but never quite hitting anything. My family laughs at my wide legged pants ALL the time, so there’s that.
6. Last book you read?
Eating the Big Fish
7. Last concert you went to?
The 1975 in February, right before all the restrictions started on travel.
I have a background in human resources and Bachelors degree in business administration and deep expertise in human resource information systems. I now proudly apply these skills and experiences as operations lead at Joydrop.
Being outside in nature, laughing with friends, puppy cuddles, new stationary, a good cup of coffee, planning a trip, dancing in my kitchen, and finishing projects or a goal.
2. What is your favourite piece of jewelry?
My grandmother was an elegant woman who never left the house without looking flawless. When I was little, she gave me a string of costume pearls which went with everything I wore from shorts to pajamas.
Lady gaga, Michelle Obama, Amy Polar, Sheryl Sandberg, and of course our team.
I love to think about the reaction they will have when they open the gift. Then I search for something that will make them feel something - whether laugh or cry, in a good way of course.
Glamantic chic, which is glam romantic chic. I love to wear dresses but I put a blazer over top. I wear dress pants with a floral pattern. I love a shirt with big patterns and sleeve tucked into a pencil skirt. I love classic pieces that I mix up with something fun.
Talking with strangers – Malcom Gladwell
I have a background in fashion design and apparel production with a focus on graphic design and business. Prior to joining Joydrop, I worked for a design company where I worked on two store openings, a new label, clothing design and multiple fashion shows and events. At Joydrop, I passionately give life to our creative dreams through merchandising, photography, and social media.
Travel, family and getting to enjoy all parts of this crazy life - good and bad. We learn from all experiences and they help shape the people we become.
2. What is your favourite piece of jewelry when you were young?
Magnetic earrings were my favourite! I couldn’t get my ears pierced until I was 13 or old enough to take care of them myself. I loved to layer them up my ears and play around with what they would look like one day.
My mom Sally. She is tough as nails, always organized and as the years have gone by I've come to appreciate how many silent sacrifices she’s made. And my mentor/boss babe leader Shashi, who constantly shows me that there is no ceiling. The sky truly is the limit otherwise you are your only limit.
I love to surprise people with items they wouldn't necessarily buy for themselves. I also think it’s important to buy them something that I see for them, not that they would have picked out for themselves. Thoughtful gifts that tell a story give me a lot of talk about when gifting and it makes it so much more special.
I'm a chameleon. I love classic fashion but I also am not scared of trying new trends. I love that day to day you can change your look and style into anything you’re feeling in the moment. I love street style but the best way to describe my style is Business Bohemian.
Where the Crawdads sing by Delia Owens.
The last concert I went to was Kygo at the Calgary Stampede. It was on a Sunday night but worth every second of being tired for work on Monday.
After graduating with a Business Administration Diploma in Marketing, I spent 8 years working in the grocery industry as a buyer and category manager before leaving to raise three children. In 2013, I began my journey as a stylist for Joydrop, then moved into the Joydrop office as Office Manager where I’m responsible for everything from data entry, simply accounting and payroll to and vendor relations.
I love my early morning workouts with my friends, a good hair day, my dogs, an amazing pastry that is worth the calories, coffee and of course a glass of prosecco.
In the 80’s my favourite accessories were huge statement earrings (hoops, feathers, etc.), scrunchies and headbands. Who knew I’d be wearing scrunchies again?
I am inspired by ALL of the amazing women in my life. My daughters, my wonderful friends and my beautiful co-workers. Each one makes me a better person.
I think about their style and what best would compliment it. I also like to give a gift that I know they would love but would never buy for themselves.
My style is fairly classic. I use different jewelry, bags, shoes to add the pop to my outfits.
American Dirt. The Japanese Lover
The Backstreet Boys in Las Vegas
I have a very diverse background including studying fine arts, and culinary school. Every course and joby has involved creativity though. I have worked in a restaurant kitchen, at a running store, a clothing store, and currently Joydrop, where I get to be around delicate, sparkly, beautiful things. Needless to say, I love it and can't imagine not working with inspiring women behind the scenes of this sweet company.
Making new memories with the people in my life.
A gold necklace with a Nefertiti pendant from my God Mother.
My cousin, Ramona, my mom, and the women I work with. They are a constant source of inspiration in my life.
I try to imagine their personality, favorite colors, go to style, and what I’ve probably already gotten them that I could match a new piece with.
I would say I lean more towards a chic style, with a touch of romance.
